Doctor Who Season 9 Episode 8: "The Zygon Inversion"

Grade: B+

For all the wars throughout human history, very few have been described accurately to the participants in advance. First World War generals marched into the fields of Flanders and France confident it would all be over by Christmas. Lyndon Johnson had no idea how much blood and treasure Vietnam had cost him, while the second Bush administration infamously assumed the people of Iraq would treat U.S. troops as liberators.

So it is particularly poignant that the Doctor manages to head off a similarly costly conflict in The Zygon Inversion, simply by making its full scope clear to the warmongering Zygon Bonnie, who has assumed the shape of Clara Oswald. And that full scope involves looking in the mirror. Read more...
